Exciting News from Mocha Turtle!
We wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news and give you a sneak peek of what’s ahead in our journey. After 12 wonderful years of serving the Tuckton community, we’ve made the heartfelt decision to close Mocha Turtle and embark on a new chapter with a fresh rebrand. This is something we’ve been considering for quite some time, and now feels like the perfect moment to make this change.
During the lockdown, we almost transformed The Tap into a fruit and veg shop as the industry faced significant challenges. However, the timing wasn’t right back then. When Drop the Anchor moved to East Close Farm, we made many new friends in and around the Hinton Estate and the New Forest—people dedicated to working the land and producing incredible local foods and drinks. Inspired by these connections, one of the main goals for DTA has become to offer an entertainment experience paired with the best food and drinks. So, we thought, why not extend this passion to our home base in Tuckton?
Our time working in the New Forest has introduced us to some amazing local producers of artisan foods and drinks. Now feels like the ideal time to incorporate these wonderful finds into our new venture.
Tuckton has always held a special place in our hearts, from the cherished memories of our Christmas Markets to the festive lights switch-on and choirs singing. While we may not be SOBO, our passion for this community remains as strong as ever. Rosie and I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredible support over the past 12 years.
Mocha Turtle will close on September 13th for a refit and shopfront makeover, with plans to reopen by October. The good news? We’ll still be serving your favourite Mocha Turtle Coffee, and we can’t wait to welcome you back once we reopen. In the meantime, we’ll be updating our website with profiles of some of the amazing makers we’ve partnered with, who we cannot wait to introduce to you. It’s back! The most spooktacular beer and music festival of the year returns—bigger and better than ever! Get ready to set sail for a night of eerie excitement at the Pirates and Zombies (or Zombie Pirates!) Beer Fest on November 2nd Saturday from 1 PM till 9 PM at Drop the Anchor Brewery.
🍺 What to Expect:
Live Music: The best band and DJs will be setting the perfect spooky atmosphere. (Line-up TBA!)
Fancy Dress (Optional): Dress as a pirate, a zombie, or even a zombie pirate—get creative, but costumes are totally optional!

As August ends and September begins, it's time for one thing: our annual Barn Dance! If you've attended before, you know it's an amazing day. Leading us on our merry dance is Murphy’s Lore Ceilidh. Tickets are just £5 at the gate. Expect music, food, beer, and plenty of fun and laughter.

Murphy's Lore is a Celtic band from Bournemouth/Dorset, playing a mix of traditional Irish, English, and Scottish music, along with original tunes composed by our talented 'box' player, Richard. They’re perfect for ceilidhs, barn dances, pub gigs, and any event that calls for a good time, whether it’s a wedding, party, anniversary, or just a reason to have a Hooley!

The recent issues with a couple of our beers have left us short on ale, and while we do have some in cask, it will need another week to fully mature. Everything will be back to normal next week with fresh beer available. Thanks for your understanding.

We wanted to inform you that our brewery will be closed on Saturday, the 24th, due to a private wedding event. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

We will be open as usual on Friday, so feel free to stop by then! And don’t forget about our Buddstival 2.7 Festival on Sunday from 12 PM to 10 PM—a full day of live music! Here’s the lineup:
