Murphy’s Lore is a Bournemouth/Dorset based ‘Celtic’ band, performing a mix of traditional Irish, English and Scots music plus a few tunes of our own, composed by our ‘box’ player Richard and arranged as we went along! For ceilidhs, barn dances, pub gigs and general good craic. Perfect in many ways for weddings, parties, an anniversary or any excuse to have a Hooley.
Gill and Richard are our lead (or tune) players on fiddle and accordion and they lead the line extremely well. Both strong players they come together beautifully for rich melodies and harmonies. They are underpinned by Alex on guitar, mandolin and ‘stomp’, to provide a full and driving rhythm to keep the whole together. Noeleen will instruct on the dances making sure even those with two left feet can give it a go.
There’s nothing really clever about what we do, it’s just gutsy and makes for an easy and exciting dance experience.
Ceol agus craic , which means music and fun..
